Zippo is one of the world’s most recognized and prolific manufacturers of lighting products. Sold in more than 180 countries and regions around the world, their product offerings have expanded to include lifestyle accessories and a variety of outdoor products.

THE PROBLEM

Zippo had outgrown its eCommerce platform and was ready to upgrade. Their online presence spanned three distinct site destinations including Zippo.com, ZippoCaseMuseum.com, and ZippoClick.com. They needed a highly customizable solution that was flexible and easy for their lean eCommerce team to use.

Zippo also offered a personalized lighter that buyers could customize with their own photos. However, it took too long to receive a photo, print a sample, and email it back for approval. They needed a solution that could support a world-class customer experience.

THE SOLUTION

Because of their track record working with major retailers, Zippo selected Virid to lead their commerce transformation. Virid migrated Zippo from their existing platform to the marketAgility eCommerce platform. In addition to completing the technical implementation and integrations, Virid also supported a complete online rebrand and new immersive shopping experience for Zippo. To modernize their lighter customizer experience, Virid built an online customization tool that allowed buyers to upload a photo directly on the website, make edits, add clip art and text, and preview the design of the lighter in 3D – all before completing their purchase.
